The Music Academy will provide music for the Anderson Gardens Benefactor Event. Measure 5, Vivaldi Orchestra, and solo performers will be featured on two stages. Ask you teacher for more information! This event is not open to the public

NEW: Solo stage musicians will be scheduled in 30 minute time blocks - announced 1 week before the event. Solo Musicians only need to stay for your block of time. Pavillion Performers stay for the entire event.

Families are encouraged to park at University of Illinois College of Medicine (1601 Parkview Ave, Rockford, IL 61107) and carpool to the gardens.

Select Measure 5 Students will perform at an RU Fundraiser for the Friends of the Performing Arts Event.

When: Sunday, May 2nd
Where: Clarke Arts Lobby and Art Gallery at RU
Dress: Performance Black
Guests: Students may bring one adult guest for free. All others should buy tickets to the event which will support theater students traveling to Scotland.

The Music Academy Leaves The Building!

As part of a CFNIL-funded project called The Music Academy Leaves the Building, The Music Academy is hosting a 45 minute family-friendly recital intended to allow children to move around, draw, and experience the music in a way that fosters a lifelong love of music. We will have simple activities designed to encourage listening and or movement along to the music. Performers will include Music Academy Faculty and feature a variety of instruments and musical genres. All are welcome at this concert - bring a pillow or blanket if you would like to sit on the floor but there will also be chairs available.

The Music Academy will have engaging activities for children and blankets if you forget yours!

No Registration Required and Free For all!

Join guest artist, Amanda Arrington in an innovative masterclass exploring musical collaboration!

Amanda Arrington serves as Senior Professor of Practice at Kansas State University. She maintains an active schedule, collaborating with performing artists, faculty, and students in concerts across the country and abroad. An advocate of new music, you can find her premiering works and performing in renowned venues, including the Sydney Opera House, the Kennedy Center, and the National WWI & National WWII museums. As a recording artist, some of her studio albums include “The Light is the Same”, “Serenade”, “Ruminations”, “Wanderlust: The Flute Music of David Amram”, and “String to Silver: Flute Transcriptions of Works in the Romantic Tradition”, all available on major streaming platforms. Amanda and her husband, recording engineer Owen Taylor, are co-founders of Radium Recordings, a classical music record label.

The Music Academy is traveling to see the Lyric Opera of Chicago's West Side Story on June 11th, 2023! This exciting and updated performance features phenomenal music and stunning choreography
