Don Larson

Saxophone, Clarinet

Don is a long-time Rockford area resident active in the local music scene, performing in local theater, the Rockford Wind Ensemble and many local jazz and popular music groups. His music education began at Rock Valley College where he studied saxophone with Ken Stein. Earning his Bachelor of Music in Theory and History at UW-Whitewater Don was a saxophone student of Dr. John Webb and also studied clarinet with Dr. Christian Ellenwood. At DePaul University in Chicago Don completed his Masters degree in Saxophone performance having the privilege to study with saxophone great Mark Colby and multi-instrumentalist Peter Ballin.

In addition to being on staff as an Adjunct Instructor at Rock Valley College, Don has been teaching individual lessons for the last 20 years. His students are regulars in local IMEA district and state bands. Currently he has clarinet students in youth orchestras in Rockford, Elgin and Chicago.
